60th anniversary Normandy

Ad van Tiel mentioned that he has a German collector's picture with the same photo as on the 2004 stamp from Gibraltar, showing landing British soldiers with a Welbike.

It comes from the series "Der Zweite Weltkrieg in Bild" (The 2nd World War in Images), that has been issued in the 50–ies by Eilebrecht Cigaretten. The pictures could be collected by purchasing cigarets from this brand. The photo is on picture number 2 from series 45:

Ad has a second picture from this series showing another landing, on which also several motorcycles and/or bicycles can be seen.

The photos have been made by the English army department "No. 5 Army Film & Photographic Unit", and belong to the collection of the Imperial War Museum.
